6 DIY Home Decor Ideas To Revamp Your Living Space

We always try to turn our living space into the best version it can be. After all, it’s the one place where we spend most of our time. Also, you don’t want to get back from an exhausting day to a home that makes you want to go back out. Your home should be able to calm you down and relax your body and mind. It should have a piece of you and represent your personality. So if you’ve just moved into a new home or are in a mood to give your home a little twist, I have some amazing DIY home decor ideas that will not only uplift your indoors but also reflect your personality perfectly.

Also these are all ideas you can use during this pandemic.

Tie-Dye Home decor

Many will agree with me when I say that this year can be titled as the year of tie-dye. Hoodies, shoes, socks, caps, stockings, bags and even phone cases, you can find tie-dye everywhere. And honestly, if you get the right colors, it looks incredible. So why leave your home out of the trend?

Nowadays, you can do tie-dye anything using DIY kits or food coloring. Using different folding techniques, you can create different patterns. Try this at home to make a tie-dye tapestry, cushion covers, bedsheets and even curtains. This trend isn’t going to die down anytime soon. So pick up some food coloring and start decorating your home with tie-dye.

Polaroid Wall

Polaroids can never go wrong. These small paper squares hold lots of special memories. So instead of hiding them in a photobook, display them on your wall. You can go for a traditional method and paste them directly on the wall. Follow a unique pattern to make it look more aesthetic. Choose bright colored polaroids so that they stand out and add a pop of color to your wall. You can also hang these pictures on a string with the help of paper clips or wooden cloth pegs. If you want to go the extra mile, add fairy or LED lights to make the wall more special.

Herb Garden

Indoor plants add life to your home in a way that no other home decor could. So along with a fern or snake plant in the corner, make your own indoor herb garden too. Not only will it add to the beauty of your indoor space but will also prove to be a great way for easy access to fresh herbs every day.

Herbs can grow in almost any container. So you get the leverage of trying different styles getting creative with a herb garden. You can either make a hanging garden with wooden planks or reuse your old teacups and coffee mugs. If you have plastic bottles around your home, cut a small square in it, add some soil and plant the herbs. You can place the garden in your lobby, kitchen or balcony and enjoy the beauty.

Mason Jar Photo Frame

Repurposing photographs is the best way of adding a little bit of your personality to your home. While a polaroid wall is a great idea, you can also try something different by using mason jars. Take your polaroids or printed photographs of the best memories you have and place it in a glass mason jar. You can leave it as it is or decorate it with a ribbon, fresh cut flowers or fairy lights. You can also use paint to color the jar and leave enough space for the photograph.

Place these mason jar photo frames on your coffee table or the main shelf so that you can see your special memories every day.

We always look for some sort of motivation to help us through tough days. Well, you can be your own motivation by writing inspirational messages for yourself on a chalkboard every day. And the best part is that you can make it at home in whatever way you like.

First, you need some chalkboard paint. You can easily find it online. Then get yourself a wooden plank that you like and smooth one side with sandpaper. Make sure to flatten out any bumps or splinters. After smoothening, add a coat of primer so that the paint can be applied properly. As soon as the primer dries out apply the chalkboard paint and let it dry.

The last step is to write your favorite quote or message and place the chalkboard in a place where you can easily see it. Not only will you start your day with positivity but you can use it as an aesthetic piece for your home too.

Make Your Own Canvas

It’s time to bring out your inner artist on a blank canvas. I’m not kidding. You have to use a paintbrush and some acrylics, watercolors or oil paint on a canvas. The only difference is that this time it’s going to be easy.

Before making your first stroke, find a Bob Ross tutorial on Youtube that you want to follow. He was a well known American painter whose tutorial videos made it easy for even an amateur to make a stunning landscape. Maybe this experience will help you find your hidden talent. If not Bob Ross, you could just go abstract. Just throw some strokes or paint on the canvas and let the flow decide the outcome. This technique has resulted in some very pretty paintings that are worth a spot in the living room wall. If you need inspiration, just Google ‘abstract paintings’ and you’ll find some very beautiful pieces.
